“The Chao Phraya River bends and sweeps from Nakhon Sawan to the Gulf of Thailand, moulding and crafting the lifestyle of Thais more than any other stretch of water.”
-Amazing Thailand
The Chao Phraya delta wine region of Thailand lies around an hour’s drive to the south of the capital city of Bangkok and is home to the award winning Siam Winery; famed for its Chatemp and Monsoon Valley wines. This region is where the major Chao Phraya River makes its home; journeying through Bangkok before flowing to meet its destiny in the Gulf of Thailand.
The river here does more than just nourish the soil though; it is also where you will find the renowned floating vineyards of the Chao Phraya delta which provide the vast majority of the grapes used to produce the wines of the area.
Visitors can enjoy a journey with the vines …aboard the floating vineyards
The Siam Winery here adds another dimension to your exploration of the wines and wine growing regions of Thailand, with a tour of their vineyard, by elephant! A truly authentic Thai touch.
The Chao Phraya delta is (at the time of writing), the most southerly wine region at the northern latitude of 14 and is five metres above sea level. This makes for a rich, fertile region producing extensive rice crops; leading to it also being known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Asia’.
